Please follow the below instructions.
After browsing our site and finding a product that you wish to purchase you will then need to click on the 'Add To Cart' button at the bottom of the product information (It should appear after the summary). By clicking the 'Add To Cart' button you will be forwarded to the Shopping Cart screen where you can view the content of your cart.
Once you have finished adding products to your cart you can proceed by clicking on the 'Checkout' button. On the Checkout screen you will be asked if you are an existing or new customer. Assuming you are a new customer you will need to enter your information on the 'New Account' link. You will then be required to fill in some Account, Billing and Delivery information. Once you have entered the required information you will need to click on the 'Sign Up!' button. You will then have an existing customer account created with us, which means purchasing in the future will be faster and more efficient.
Now all you will be required to do is enter your payment details, and click 'Pay Now'.

QBD The Bookshop is a privately owned company comprising 50 stores within Australia.
QBD The Bookshop (originally Queensland Book Depot) commenced operations in the late 1800's. Over the past 130 years QBD has had a number of owners, including the Uniting Church. QBD grew into the largest book chain in Queensland, only to be stricken by a number of takeovers and receiverships.
QBD Garden City was purchased in 1991 by the Robinson family, and in early 1992 the business names were purchased from the receivers. QBD The Bookshop has since expanded to numerous stores and a warehouse, in line with the company's policy to rebuild the business to its former standing.
QBD The Bookshop focusses on its people and emphasises excellence and innovation. All our staff are encouraged to increase their product knowledge and levels of customer service.
You can log into your account by clicking on 'Club QBD' at the top of the page of the website. From there you are asked for you email and password to log into your account.
For first time users, please use the boxes on the right. Your chosen password needs to be enetered in both boxes - labelled attempt 1 and attempt 2. From there click sign up. From there it will take you to the 'my details page'. After these are entered, enjoy your shopping!
If you have experienced a site error please contact us and let us know.
If you have searched all the relevant categories and completed an advanced search for the title and still cannot find it, then unfortunately we cannot currently supply you with the book you require. The title may be sold out, out of print, or unavailable from the publisher.
For information on your order please login and select "My Orders". There you will be able to find the latest information on your order.

It is important to note the release date for books not yet published. Orders will be sent in full when all books are available for dispatch, unless other arrangements are made, and these may incur additional postage charges.
Availability.
This is a brief explanation of how we source books for customers.
There are 3 types of documented availability on the website;
>Availability: In Stock, ships in 2 to 4 days
>Availability: Usually ships in 4 to 6 days
>Availability: Usually ships in 10 to 14 days
In Stock, ships in 2 to 4 days means it is in stock in The Online Store or our Warehouse.
Usually ships in 4 to 6 days means it is in stock at our nominated picking stores.
Usually ships in 10 to 14 days means it is not in stock at the above and must be ordered direct from the publisher.
Note; An order containing book(s) from the last category would have a shipping approximation of 10-14 days for the whole order. You can avoid this by placing an order solely of 2-4 day book(s), and a seperate one for the 10-14 book(s).
Potential Problems not meeting the nominated delivery times.
The most common problem would be the Publisher being out of stock, followed by books being out of print. In both cases orders cannot be despatched in full. While every endeavor is made to have the most up to date data appearing on the website unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control incorrect data may still appear. In the case of the Publisher being out of stock, the book will remain on back order until it becomes available Cancellation would only occur if requested by the customer. In the case of books being being out of print they will be cancelled off your order, and removed from the website.
Orders may be partialled, ie all stock on hand sent, if they meet certain common sense criteria, for example, an order of 8 books, 10 days old where 7 are in stock and the last is listed as temporarily out of stock could be partialled on request.
It is a good idea to keep and eye on your order(s) on the website (simply log in and go to “my orders”) and relay partialling requests if desired. By keeping an eye on them, you can also alert us of any problems you may find.
Requests can be made for orders to be partialled at any time but they may incur additional postage charges.

We currently offer the following forms of payment options on our site.
All credit cards are charged only when your order is shipped, we do not charge until your order is ready to be dispatched.
Bpay and EFT(Bank Transfer) are electronic payments made through internet banking websites. Your order confirmation email will contain the details used to process these tranasctions.
If you select EFT as a payment option, you can pay for your order at any branch of the Commonwealth Bank Of Australia. Print out the details, and ensure that you use your reference number as your transaction reference when you do your funds transfer.
We currently have free shipping to Australian adresses - for a limited time. Usual conditions are listed below;
Delivery Charges.
Availability.
Stock availability can be found on the product screen next to every product on our site. In the event that you order one book that is in stock and one that is out of stock, your order will not be sent until we receive the out of stock title. If you would like us to send the title we already have in stock straight away and send the out of stock title when we receive it, please refer to the Partial Deliveries section below.
Part Deliveries.
Freight charges are set when you create your order. The only time that your freight charge will change is if you elect to have your order sent in partial shipments. If that is the case, each partial shipment will have freight charges recalculated to include the base freight rate plus the additional charges for each book included in each shipment.
Delivery Times.
Delivery times vary for Standard Delivery within Australia. If the product or all the products you have ordered are in stock, the order will most likely be dispatched that day. Products that are In Stock usually ship the same business day or the next. The reason it states 2-4 days for shipping In Stock items is if it was ordered on a Friday after the mail cut off, it would not ship until the Monday.
Delivery times for Express Delivery within Australia should be within 1 - 2 working days. If you would like to have you order sent by express post, please contact us to arrange this. It is Online Store policy to charge the exact amount Australia Post charges, therefore Express Post can vary greatly depending on weight and destination.
Delivery times for Outside Australia vary greatly and should be given up to 2 months to arrive. This is due to overseas delivery services and customs.
All deliveries will be executed in accordance with Australia Post's "Delivery Timetable For Parcels" Schedule.
Postage & Handling Charges and Conditions
You may return the product within two weeks of receiving it for a prompt refund (Excluding Postage & Handling), provided the following steps are taken.
- Contact QBD The Bookshop Online and receive a returns authorisation number.
- Fill in the returns information on the back of your invoice and include it with your return.
- Return the product to QBD The Bookshop in its original condition;

Alternatively you may wish to return the goods in person to one of our stores for a refund on the product. Unfortunately computer software cannot be refunded unless it is sealed in its original packaging. Postage & Handling charges will only be refunded if QBD The Bookshop is at fault.

QBD The Bookshop Online only charges you for the products on your order as they are shipped. This is so we are sure the product is available before we charge. There are only a few special cases when an order is charged before it is shipped. You will be notified beforehand if this is going to happen.
Simply, yes it is completely safe for you to purchase from QBD The Bookshop Online. Any transactions completed on our site are kept secure by SSL (Secure Sockets Layer technology). By having SSL integrated into our website it allows you the customer to shop in a safe and secure environment. Over the years SSL has become an industry standard and our certificate is issued by the world-renowned Thawte.
No. All customer credit card details are stored offline in a safe and secure environment.
We understand that protection of privacy is a large concern for today's Internet society. That is why we would like to assure you that any information given to QBD The Bookshop is strictly confidential. The information will only be used by QBD The Bookshop Online and will not be given to any other company or association.
If you are experiencing strange occurrences with your shopping basket it could be because you have 'cookies' turned off on your web browser. Cookies are small files that are stored on your computer that are commonly used by sites to communicate with your web browser and their website. If you have cookies disabled it can generate problems with the contents of your shopping basket, like the disappearance of products you have placed in it. To combat this problem you can either turn cookies back on or contact QBD The Bookshop Online and complete a phone order.
Turning cookies back on is different for every browser so the best way is to refer to your browser's help options or website. To make a phone order please have the titles you wish to order and your credit card details on hand before you call. Then phone (07) 3291 7444 within Australia and +61 7 3291 7444 outside Australia between 8am - 5pm Australian EST and one of our friendly customer service representatives will take your order.
If you wish to change your account information you will need to log into the Club QBD section of the website with your e-mail and password. Once you are in the Club QBD section you will be given options and instructions on how to change your information.
Our returns policy is as follows:
You may return a book within six weeks of receiving it if:
- The Product is misbound or faulty in any way
- The Product you received was different to the one ordered
- The Product arrived damaged
If your return meets any of the above conditions you will be entitled to a refund or an exchange. You will need to email us about your order onlinestore@qbd.com.au before returning it and request a returns authorisation number.
Alternatively, you may visit one of our retail stores with both the book and the invoice to return or exchange an item, subject to the conditions listed above.
However, certain items in our catalogue are not available in our retail stores. These items must be returned to the Online Store following the procedure listed above. If you have and questions regarding this, please visit our Contact Us page.
NOTE: The Online Only products are listed under availability as "This title is only available online and cannot be purchased through our retail stores".
If a book on your order is not in stock at our warehouse or stores then it will be ordered directly from the supplier. In this case it usually takes around 5 to 10 working days for us to receive the book subject to the availability of the title at the supplier.
Occasionally titles will go out of stock at the supplier or need to be reprinted. In this case it is possible that the book may not be available for more than 2 weeks. If this happens we will inform you and, if possible, give you an availability date as soon as we are notified by the supplier.
Existing members can enter their Club Card scancode into the 'Special Instructions' part of the purchase screen. The scancode is located under the barcode on the actual card and will begin with the letter 'Q'. We will then manually add the sale to your card. Please note that the sale will not be added to the card until the books are charged and mailed.

CLUB QBD Terms and Conditions
Present your card every time you make a purchase at QBD The Bookshop. Once you
have completed ten purchases on different days you will receive a credit voucher
equal to 10% of your total purchase value. This credit voucher may be used to
purchase other items from QBD The Bookshop.
Conditions of Use:
1. The tenth purchase must be made within 24 months of the first purchase.
2. The ten purchases must all be made on different days.
3. Gift vouchers are counted at sale, not redemption.
4. QBD is not responsible for lost/stolen cards.
5. A replacement card fee is payable.
6. Any purchases added at a later date must be completed at the original shop of purchase, and no later than 30 days.
7. Credit vouchers are not transferable for cash and no change will be given.
8. The value on the credit voucher does not accrue further credit.
9. QBD The Bookshop reserves the right to alter conditions at any time.
10. Refunds reduce the number of purchases and credit total.
11. Lay-bys are credited as one total on completion of lay-by.
12. All members will be joined to the QBD mailing list.
You can access your current Club Card status at any branch of QBD The Bookshop by asking a staff member at the counter, or we can provide a record via email. If you like to know how many transactions you have made or for any other request please contact us.
If you have any problems regarding your club card transaction history please contact us immediately so we can investigate the problem. This is especially important if we have not recorded a sale against your card.
Due to a limitation in our system, when club card vouchers are created they are only able to be used in store and not online. We will manually convert the voucher to a Web Voucher and email it to you. Web vouchers can still be used in store if required.
Due to updating issues with the website order database, some orders are not showing up on account histories.
If you cannot view your order and would like an update on its status or if you think there is a chance your order failed, please don't hesitate to email us at onlinestore@qbd.com.au and we will check on your order. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
At the moment, nothing - we offer free shipping Australia wide!
Express Post is also available. It is the Online Store's policy to charge what we are charged by Australia Post. Therefore, due to weight and destination, the price can vary wildly. If you would like to have your order sent express, you need to call us (07 3291 7444) to arrange this, or contact us online.
From time to time advertised books become unavailable from publishers and we can no longer supply them. If you chose to pay by credit card, you will not be charged for an unavailable book, so there is no refund needed. If you paid by Bpay or EFT, we will need to transfer the payment back to you. Please contact us to arrange the funds transfer. Due to processing cycles of banks, Bpay or EFT refunds can take up to five business days to process.
Qbd the bookshop does not purchase independently published books. We are a mass market bookseller and only purchase titles available from major Australian Distributors, that we have an account with. If you believe that your title may be an exception, please email a brief description & cover image of the book, along with the RRP and sale terms to booksubmissions@qbd.com.au. If we are interested in the purchase of your book we will contact you.
Please do not post any submissions to QBD The Bookshop.
Vouchers are non-refundable and for the supply of goods only. QBD accepts no responsiblity for lost, stolen or damaged vouchers. QBD vouchers are valid for 12 months from purchase date. No change can be given on vouchers. Online vouchers can be used in all QBD stores. Store vouchers can be used online, but only after a voucher conversion has taken place. A voucher conversion prompt is activated when a store issued voucher is entered into the online system. This process can take up to 1 business day.
To use a Gift Voucher, enter the voucher code in the box labelled "Please enter Gift Vouchers or Promotional Codes here:" on the shopping cart screen. If the voucher used is a store only code, the website will prompt you to submit a voucher swap request. These can take up to 1 business day under normal circumstances.
After adding an item to your cart, you will notice a box with a '1' in it, indicating the quantity. If you want 2 copies, put your cursor in the box, press 2 and press enter, and the quantity will change. This will work for any quantity desired, if you want 6, simply put a 6 in the box and press enter.
Gift Wrapping is available from our site during checkout. Starting at $4.99 we can have your book(s) beautifully presented and sent to your loved one. All purchased books will be sent together in one package.
