Two college sweethearts are living a happy, rather ordinary life in New York but there's a slight twist - she's the breadwinner, supporting her musician boyfriend. Until the tables are turned when he's discovered by a Sony exec and their worlds are turned upside down.
Soon they are holidaying in the Hamptons, adorning the cover of Vanity Fair and attending every glitzy party in town - all the while his career is reaching new, dizzying heights.
But the trappings of this elite lifestyle mean our heroine must face the wrath of the US press. Scorned for having a less-than-perfectly-honed LA body and brutalised for being 'ordinary' things couldn't get any worse... Then news erupts that her best friend, who's been her confidante through these months of misery, has sold her innermost secrets to the press and her life spirals out of control.
She finds solace in a secret support group: The Civilian Ex-Wives and Girlfriends of Celebrities Group - a place to gossip, lubricated with lashings of shared experiences and strong cocktails. As this sassy group right the wrongs of their past relationships, our heroine must decide if she's going to sink or swim.

Lauren was born March 28, 1977, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. At Parkland High School, Lauren participated in all sorts of projects, activities, and organisations for the sole purpose of padding her college application, although she did genuinely enjoy playing varsity tennis.
Once matriculated at Cornell University, she focused her energy on securing a steady stream of fake IDs and dating boys from the right fraternities. After graduating in 1999 with a BA in English, Lauren moved home for the summer to save money and then traveled all over Europe, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Thailand, India, Nepal, and Hong Kong. She carried a single small backpack and stayed in questionable places, further enriching her authentic cultural experiences by eating only Nutella and drinking Coca-Cola Light.
Lauren's first job after returning to the U.S. and moving to Manhattan was the Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour. Lauren became proficient in the language of stilettos and Starbucks before moving to Departures magazine, where she wrote 100-word reviews by day and took writing classes at night. The Devil Wears Prada, begun at the Writer's Voice, was published in April 2003, and spent six months on The New York Times Bestseller List. It was sold in thirty-one foreign countries and made into a major motion picture by Fox 2000 starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. Lauren has a half-second cameo in the film that even she is hard-pressed to locate after several viewings.
Her second and third novels, Everyone Worth Knowing (October 2005) and Chasing Harry Winston (May 2008) were both New York Times bestsellers. Chasing Harry Winston was optioned by Mandalay Pictures and is currently in development, with Gina Wendkos writing the screenplay and Andy Tennant set to direct. Her most recent novel, Last Night at Chateau Marmont (August 2010) is currently in bookstores, so stop reading this boring bio this moment and order yourself a copy of my new book instead.
She currently lives in New York with her husband, Mike, and two extraordinarily spoiled nine-pound Maltese, Mitzy and Stella.
