Cross Bones by Kathy Reichs, ISBN 9780099441496

> Fiction Books > Crime Books

An orthodox Jew is found shot dead in Montreal, the mutilated body is barely recognisable. Extreme heat has accelerated decomposition, and made it virtually impossible to determine the bullet trajectory. But just as forensic anthropologist Dr Temperance Brennan is attempting to make sense of the fracture patterning, a mysterious stranger slips her a photograph of a skeleton, assuring her it holds the key to the victim's death. The trail of clues leads all the way to the Holy Land where, together with detective Andrew Ryan, Tempe makes a startling discovery - but the further Tempe probes into the identity of the ancient skeleton, the more she seems to be putting herself in danger.

About the Author: Kathy Reichs

Kathy Reichs

Kathleen Joan "Kathy" Reichs was born in Chicago in 1950. She is a professor of anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and also works for the state of Quebec. As a real life forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs never has to stray to far from her day job for inspiration for her novels. Kathy has an impressive resume from college professor, author, working with the UN, FBI, and State Medical Examiners in Canada and the US. She also serves as a producer for the hit TV show Bones, loosely based on her novels, to "keep the science real".
It is easy to see how she can write accurate thrillers and mysteries, and she is well versed in the real techniques used by actual law enforcers. The central character in her books, Temperance "Tempe" Brennan, is also a forensic anthropologist, although the character is not strictly autobiographical, Tempe does mimic her creator in many ways.
