> Parenting Books > General Books
Reading aloud to your children is an act of love. An act of love that goes both ways.' The Reading Bug , PAUL JENNINGS This infectiously inspiring book explains the role parents or carers can play in developing a love of reading in their children, while later chapters examine phonics and spelling in a clear and practical way. The fully revised edition includes a brilliant new chapter from Paul on the important topic of boys and reading, and more of Andrew Weldon's irresistible cartoons, plus an extended and updated reading list. In writing this warm and unstuffy book, Paul Jennings drew extensively on his personal experience as a parent of six, and on his professional experience as a teacher, an academic and a writer. Every bit as readable as his stories, THE READING BUG is scattered with illuminating anecdotes and amusing illustrations by Andrew Weldon. This is an immensely valuable book for all parents or teachers of young children. THE READING BUG is the cumulation of a lifetime's work in helping raise literacy levels in children. This book also contains much information about the writing process which will fascinate any fan of Paul Jennings, or anyone interested in writing for children.
