Selby's Shemozzle by Duncan Ball, ISBN 9780207200304

> Children's Books > Fiction Books

Duncan Ball's Selby books have repeatedly been winners of 'children's choice' book awards.

Selby - the only talking dog in Australia, and perhaps the world - returns with more stories to entertain and amuse in the thirteenth book of the series.

The whole of Australia, and maybe the rest of the world, too, is talking about Selby . . . is he real or isn't he? There are arguments and fights in the playground, and even Dr and Mrs Trifle are disagreeing.

As the title story begins, Mrs Trifle is putting material in a time capsule to be placed in the Bogusville Memorial Rose Garden, ready to be opened in one hundred years' time.

Selby decides to write a diary entry of his own, but Aunt Jetty's boys, Willy and Billy, decide to write down some of their own thoughts about Selby . . . and they aren't nice!

How will Selby salvage these notes from the time capsule, and will his secret finally be revealed to the world?

This hilarious collection of stories in the bestselling Selby series is guaranteed to leave you gasping with laughter.

About the Author: Duncan Ball

Duncan Ball

Duncan Ball is an American-born Australian author who has written the children's series Selby (about a talking dog named Selby who tries to keep his secret away from his owners) and Emily Eyefinger (about a girl who has an eye on her finger). He also writes under the name of John St Claire. St can mean either Saint or Street and Duncan happens to live on the corner of John and Claire Streets in Sydney.

Duncan was born in 1941 in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S., and was one of three children. When he was 4, his family moved to Alaska, where he went to primary school. In his teens, Duncan moved to Madrid, Spain where he learned to speak Spanish. He finished high school back in the US, and eventually moved to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and worked as an industrial chemist. He wrote a novel for adults and later changed jobs to editor of the School Magazine at the Department of Education of New South Wales.

He continued to work there for a few years, then resigned to become a full-time author, a profession which he continues today.
