About the Author: Sophie Kinsella

Sophie Kinsella

Madeleine Sophie Wickham (nee Townley), who also writes under the pseudonym Sophie Kinsella, is an English author of chick lit.

Educated at Putney High School and New College, Oxford, she worked as a financial journalist before turning to fiction. She is best known for writing the Shopaholic novels series of chick-lit novels, which focus on the misadventures of Becky Bloomwood, a financial journalist who cannot manage her own finances. The series focuses on her obsession with shopping and its resulting complications for her life.

The first two Shopaholic books were adapted into a film and released in February 2009, with Isla Fisher playing Becky and Hugh Dancy as Luke Brandon.

Her latest novel under the name Sophie Kinsella will be published in 2009 and is set to be called Twenties Girl.

Reviews of Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella

Remember Me?
Reviewed by Anonymous, 04/01/2010

I've read some of Sophie Kinsella's other novels and after reading Remember Me? it was apparent that Kinsella seems to be committing the crime of recycling her characters, just with different names and a different awkward situation to deal with. Her female leads invariably have ignorant family members, are strapped for cash, and are bottom of the pecking order at work with one or two unpleasant colleagues.

There's nothing new going on in Remember Me? However, if you can forgive the similarities (or if you haven't read another Kinsella book to know that there are similarities) then this is still a good read.

The main character, Lexi, starts out as a 25-year-old who is concerned her life isn't playing out as she hopes. Then she wakes up after a bump on the noggin as a 28-year-old who has everything she wanted but no memory of how she got it. As the amnesiac tries to settle back into her new and improved life she realises that it might not be so improved. In fact, she may have become a person she doesn't even like. Perhaps all she wanted as a 25-year-old doesn't have the power to make her happy.

It sounds cheesy and cliched. And it is. But Remember Me? is also funny, engaging and romantic. Just like Kinsella's other books.
