Contest by Matthew Reilly, ISBN 9780732910327

> Fiction Books > General Books

The New York State Library. A silent sanctuary of knowledge; a 100-year-old labyrinth of towering bookcases, narrow aisles and spiralling staircases. For Doctor Stephen Swain and his eight-year-old daughter, Holly, it is the site of a nightmare. For one night, the State Library is to be the venue for a contest. A contest in which Stephen Swain is to compete - whether he likes it or not.

The rules are simple: Seven contestants will enter, only one will leave. With his daughter in his arms, Swain is plunged into a terrifying fight for survival. The stakes are high, the odds brutal. He can choose to run, to hide or to fight - but if he wants to live, he has to win. Because in a contest like this, unless you leave as the victor, you do not leave at all.

Contest by Matthew Reilly

About the Author: Matthew Reilly

Matthew Reilly

Matthew John "Matty" Reilly is an Australian action and thriller writer. His novels are noted for their fast pace, twisting plots, and intense action.
Reilly was a law student at the University Of New South Wales when he wrote his first book, Contest. After being rejected by nearly every major publisher in Australia, Reilly borrowed some money and printed 1000 copies himself. Reilly went to a bookstore in Sydney and asked if he could place the copies on one of their book shelves. They accepted the offer and placed them up. Very shortly after, the books had sold out and the owner of the bookstore called Reilly to order more books.
An editor for Pan Macmillan read one, and the rest is history. Reilly has gone on to become an international best seller. Reilly has now written more than a dozen books, and several short stories.
He has made an 11 minute trailer for a film version of Contest, and hopes to secure funding for a full length feature, directed by himself.
