The colourful story of Noel Tovey.
Director, actor, playwright, novelist and choreographer Noel Tovey has had a long and illustrious career in the theatre and in 2000 was artistic director of the Indigenous welcoming ceremony of the Sydney Olympics.
However, this stellar career followed a childhood marked by homelessness, alcoholism, violence and abuse. After being sent to Pentridge for buggery when he was seventeen, Tovey escaped Australia to live out a rags-to-riches story in which he lived in England and America working alongside some of the great film and theatre artists of his day from Ken Tynan to Judy Garland.
In 'Little Black Bastard', Noel recalls his return to Australia and his reconciliation with the country that had never managed to provide him with a home.
