Gabrielle Lord graduated from the University of New England in 1975 and has worked as an unqualified teacher, brick cleaner, peach picker, market gardener and employment officer. In the course of researching, she has studied flying, investigative police procedures such as forensic hypnosis, Scientific Content Analysis (SCAN), anatomy and bioenergetic therapies. As well as these continued interests, she enjoys singing, yoga, gardening, raising tadpoles and spending time with her family and friends.
Her first novel, Fortress, was published in 1980, widely translated and made into a feature film starring Rachel Ward. Gabrielle has published a number of other successful novels, The Sharp End, Tooth and Claw, Jumbo, Whipping Boy (made into a controversial telemovie starring Sigrid Thornton), and Salt.
