The Watchmaker Who Saved Christmas by Bruce Whatley, ISBN 9781864719567
|
> Children's Books > Picture Books - Other Books > Christmas & Easter Books
This is a classically magical Christmas book based on the wonderful idea that Santa has a special watch that slows down time so he can deliver all his presents around the world. It has everything from the pathos of Charles Dickens's Tiny Tim (in this case the deaf boy who sacrifices his precious hearing aid to help fix Santa's watch), the intrigue of the watchmaker racing to meet a special Christmas deadline, and the snow-filled Christmas world of books like THE POLAR EXPRESS.

Popular author and illustrator, Bruce Whatley was born in the United Kingdom, immigrated to Australia as a child with his parents, moved back to the UK for a while to study and work, worked for a time in the US and now lives in NSW with his wife Rosie Smith, who has co-authored several of his titles.
Bruce is inspired by his family, with his Boxer dog featuring in several of his picture books. He uses a variety of illustration medium including gouache, pen and ink, and watercolour. His style is humourous and imaginative; his aim is to entertain and surprise the reader.
