Reviews of A Complete Guide to the Birds of Malta by Natalino Fenech
Best Bird Book of the decade Reviewed by Anonymous, 14/04/2011
This book is really the best bird book of the decade and will remain so for a long time. It is a compendium of facts, brilliantly kneaded together, which shows how man used birds and how birds influenced and affected man since the dawn of times in Malta... and beyond. The book is saturated with photos that compliment the flowing text and combines lore with ornithology like no one ever did before. Having said that, it is also a very good reference point from the ornithological point of view as it lists new records and lists all species occurring in Malta. Here too, folklore is abundant in many species. It suffices to say that the book lists Maltese bird names from the 13th century. It really a remarkable book and at a very reasonable price. John Oats
