Pete Evans

Pete EvansPete was born in Melbourne in 1973 and grew up on the Gold Coast, where he developed a lifelong passion for fishing and surfing. He has seen alot of different aspects of cooking from his mate's pie shop (age 13), McDonalds, and as he calls them "some pretty average kitchens". Her planned tertiary study, but shelved those ideas, became an apprentice chef, surfed all day and cooked all night.

He started working at The Pantry, in Brighton in Melbourne, owned by his brother Dave, and Dave's friend Daniel. In 1996 they set up Hugos, on Bondi beach in Sydney, which eventually spawned Hugos Lounge and Hugos Bar Pizza.

Over the years he has written a few cookbooks, as well as a monthly feature in the Australian Women's Weekly called 'Fresh'. He is perhaps best known nationally from the television series My Kitchen Rules, whom he co-hosts and judges with Manu Feildel.
