When Riley and Chloe decide to take up surfing they meet the very cute Vance. Athletic, super-outgoing, and really into school, he's everything Riley's boyfriend, Alex, isn't. Riley adores Alex, but she can't stop thinking about Vance. But she can't go behind Alex's back to get to know Vance better. It wouldn't be fair. Her heart is changing and she's got to break up with Alex.
Chloe is having her problems too. When she gets the nerve up to ask out a boy at a coffee house, a noisy coffee grinder drowns her out. She thinks he said yes, but she's not sure. And every time she tries to ask him again something happens and he doesn't seem to hear her. Should she show up for the date just in case he's there? Or should she forget the whole thing?
