Simple Woven Garments is both a pattern book and an idea book for creating simple woven shapes and turning them into everyday, highly-wearable fashions. The intended audience is basic and intermediate-level weavers who have progressed beyond scarves and are not afraid to occasionally dabble in other (simple) needlework techniques to create the desired effect.

This guide will help the weaver create fabric that works for the intended garment, is easy to weave, and is above all beautiful. The authors explore techniques such as yarn usage, spaced warps, felting, pick-up patterns, finger-control techniques, and embellishments. Shapes will be simple rectangles and sewing will require minimal skill (Jane is not a sewer by her own confession.)

All of the garments are wraps and tops, ranging from easy shawls with a twist to woven sweaters. Woven squares, rectangles, and strips are assembled into easy-sew garments with minimal finishing. For example, a pair of simple rectangles joined at the shoulders and sides becomes a trendy tunic when paired with luscious yarns in fashion colours. Most projects have some sewing, but it's accomplished easily by even non-sewers with needle and thread. Basic knitting (ribbing, garter) is included in one project and one variation.

Simple line drawings and fashion sketches outline the basics of creating and styling garments, enhanced with tips and instructions for assembly. Additionally, other ideas for fabrics will be presented that will take the reader beyond the basic garment shown.
