A Story for Your Unborn Child.
This is a poem full of expectation, excitement and hope surrounding the approaching birth of a baby. More broadly, it reflects on creation itself: the natural world and the intimate connections human beings have with it; images of parenting and growth, the creation of life and art are seen to be parallel in the worlds of people, animals, trees, the oceans and the heavens.
The most distinctive aspect of the poem is that it is addressed to the unborn baby itself. Who knows how far back in time expectant parents have spoken and sung and read to their unborn children? But in recent years research has demonstrated that babies in utero do respond - not just to physical stimuli, but to speech and music as well.
So 'Wait Till You See The World' is not just some message of hope sent off into thin air: it is a poem of love that will be heard.
