Program Terms and Conditions

The QBD Books Loyalty Program is operated by Cover Syndicate Pty Ltd trading as QBD Books, ABN 54 64 038 765 (QBD Books). Each member and/or user of the QBD Books Loyalty Program is bound by these Terms and Conditions as amended from time to time. The current Terms and Conditions are those available at the QBD Books website.

Joining the Program

QBD Books Loyalty Program membership can be activated in store or online by opting in and completing your customer details, in the manner required by QBD Books. Activation, or use of the QBD Books Loyalty Program, is deemed to be acceptance by you of these Terms and Conditions.

Each application for membership of the QBD Books Loyalty Program is subject to acceptance by QBD Books in its absolute discretion.
Employees of QBD Books are not eligible to participate in the QBD Books Loyalty Program.

Each QBD Books Loyalty Program member may only hold one membership account, however membership cards can be joined under a single account for direct family members.

Corporations, Partnerships, Trusts, Businesses, Schools and other non-natural entities are not eligible to join the QBD Books Loyalty Program.

Existing Club QBD members

The previous loyalty program, Club QBD, ceased to be active on June 30th 2018. Any accrued or accruing credit or benefits under the Club QBD loyalty scheme will no longer be valid or recognised after this date.


Terms and conditions applying to members joined after November 1st 2019


Types of Membership

Members joined to the QBD Books Loyalty program on or after November 1st 2019, will have the option to purchase a 12 month entry-level VIP membership or VIP Gold membership.

VIP memberships will be valid for 12 months.

If a VIP loyalty member spends $350 in a consecutive 12-month period, they will retain their membership for free for a following 12 months. If a VIP member spends more than $500 in consecutive 12-month period they will upgrade to a free VIP Gold membership for a following 12 months.

If a VIP Gold loyalty member spends $500 in a consecutive 12-month period, they will retain their membership for free for a following 12 months. If a VIP Gold loyalty member spends $350 in a consecutive 12-month period, they will be offered VIP membership for free for a following 12 months.

If a VIP member or VIP Gold member spends less than $350 in a consecutive 12 month period, they will be offered the opportunity to resubscribe.

If the minimum spend level is not reached the member will lose any credit accrued and can resubscribe, unless the membership is terminated, or the program is amended or terminated, in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
QBD Books reserves the right to change the tiers of membership, the qualifications for joining or remaining in a tier and the membership entitlements for each tier, at its discretion and with reasonable notice, where possible.

Earning credit

For VIP membership, members will receive 5% of their eligible purchases as credit on their membership account. This credit will be communicated in monetary value and can only be redeemed against future eligible purchases. QBD Books may, at its sole discretion, also offer additional discounts to VIP members. If unused, credit accumulated by VIP members will expire 6 months from the date of the last transaction made by the member.

For VIP Gold membership, members will receive 10% of their eligible purchases as credit on their membership account. This credit will be communicated in monetary value and can only be redeemed against future eligible purchases. QBD Books may, at its sole discretion, also offer additional discounts to VIP Gold members. If unused, credit accumulated by VIP Gold members will expire 12 months from the date of the last transaction made by the member.


Terms and conditions applying to members joined before November 1st 2019


Types of Membership

The QBD Books Loyalty Program has 4 tiers of membership – Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Each tier of membership attracts different entitlements.

Existing loyalty members joined to the QBD Books Loyalty program prior to November 1st 2019 will continue to receive the below benefits. In the event of any discrepancies, QBD Books’ decision in its absolute discretion will be final and binding.
  • To advance from Bronze to Silver a member must spend a minimum of $350 within a consecutive 12-month period.
  • To advance from Silver to Gold a member must spend a minimum of $500 within a consecutive 12-month period.
  • To advance from Gold to Platinum a member must spend a minimum of $1000 within a consecutive 12-month period.
Once a membership tier is attained it is held for life, or until the member moves to a higher tier, unless the membership is terminated, or the program is amended or terminated, in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

Earning Credit

For Bronze membership, members will receive 5% of their eligible purchases as credit on their membership account. This credit will begin accruing after the member spends $100 in eligible transactions in participating stores. Customers have a 6-month period in which to spend this $100 in any QBD books store or online. Credit will be communicated in monetary value and can only be redeemed against future eligible purchases. QBD Books may, at its sole discretion, also offer additional discounts to Bronze tier members. If unused, credit accumulated by Bronze members will expire 6 months from the date of the transaction it was accrued on.

For Silver membership, members will receive 7% of their eligible purchases as credit on their membership account. This credit will be communicated in monetary value and can only be redeemed against future eligible purchases. QBD Books may, at its sole discretion, also offer additional discounts to Silver tier members. If unused, credit accumulated by Silver members will expire 6 months from the date of the transaction it was accrued on.

For Gold & Platinum membership, members will receive 10% of their eligible purchases as credit on their membership account. This credit will be communicated in monetary value and can only be redeemed against future eligible purchases. QBD Books may, at its sole discretion, also offer additional discounts to Gold and/or Platinum tier members. If unused, credit accumulated by Gold & Platinum members will expire 1 year from the date of the transaction it was accrued on.


Terms and conditions applying to all members


Earning Credit

Eligible purchases are as notified by QBD Books from time to time.

Any additional discounts offered to a particular tier of members will be subject to such conditions that QBD Books determines and may be varied or revoked in QBD Books’ absolute discretion.

Credit accumulated is strictly limited to a member account and cannot be transferred, gifted or refunded.

Credit balances and other details can, subject to system availability, be checked online at https://www.qbd.com.au.

Credit will be allocated to a QBD Loyalty Program member’s account for in store purchases immediately after each eligible purchase.
Credit for online purchases will be allocated to a QBD Loyalty Program member’s account when the sale is completed and the item/s have been dispatched.

Credit accumulated on eligible purchases is rounded down to the nearest whole cent.

Credit will not be accumulated on transactions completed using the payment methods Zip Pay or Afterpay.

A QBD Books Loyalty Program member account must be used at the time of sale in order for credit to be earned. This can occur through the presentation of your QBD Loyalty Program card, staff searching member details in the database or by entering appropriate log-in information at QBD Books online.

Redemption of Credit

Credit can only be redeemed for goods and services sold at participating QBD Books stores in Australia.

Credit is redeemable by attributing the sale against an active QBD Books Loyalty Program member account at any participating QBD Books store in Australia. This is done by presenting a QBD Books Loyalty Card, or being identified in the member database by QBD Store. QBD Books reserves the right to not accept the redemption of credit if it considers that the use is unauthorised, fraudulent, otherwise unlawful or contrary to these Terms and Conditions.

Credit will not be earned on the redemption of a QBD Books gift voucher and cannot be redeemed to buy a QBD Books gift voucher. However, credit may be earned when purchasing a QBD Book gift voucher.

With the exclusion of Bronze members, there is no minimum redemption amount membership tiers.

Credit cannot be redeemed for cash.

Credit cannot be earned on redemption of credit.

Credit may be deducted if products are returned or exchanged.

Credit cannot be used after it has expired.

Privacy and Security

Your membership details are considered Personal Information for the purpose of the Privacy Act and will be dealt with in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and the QBD Books Privacy Policy, a copy of which can be accessed at https://www.qbd.com.au/site/privacy/.

Registered QBD Books Loyalty Program members will receive regular communications including details of credit balances.

Personal Information will only be used for marketing, promotion and provision of information which QBD Books deems would be of interest to loyalty members.

QBD Books may also disclose your Personal Information to our suppliers who:
  • Provide customer service;
  • Conduct market research and analysis; or
  • Provide marketing services.
Your QBD Books online password must not be disclosed to any other person.

QBD Books is not responsible for lost or stolen loyalty cards or for online member accounts which have been improperly accessed or used by third parties either through your computer equipment or through use of your online password, including any reduction in membership credits.

QBD Books reserves the right to charge a fee for replacement membership cards.

Program Membership

QBD Books reserves the right to suspend or terminate the QBD Books Loyalty Program at any time by providing at least 60 days’ notice to members. If the program is terminated then all rights to accrued credits cease.

Membership in the QBD Books Loyalty Program may be suspended or terminated immediately by QBD Books if it has reasonable grounds to suspect that a QBD Books Loyalty Program member has shop-lifted or defrauded QBD Books or misused the QBD Books Loyalty Program in any way.

QBD Books may terminate any membership of the QBD Books Loyalty Program without notice, if the relevant member:
  • Fails to comply with these membership Terms and Conditions;
  • Engages in misleading or deceptive conduct in connection with the QBD Books Loyalty Program;
  • Causes damage or loss, or may cause damage or loss, to any person; or
  • The member dies.
Members may terminate their membership in the QBD Books loyalty program at any time by visiting any QBD Books store in Australia or by emailing loyalty@qbd.com.au.

On termination of a membership, all credits and rights associated with the relevant member account cease and the former member will have no further rights against QBD Books.

General

All QBD Books loyalty cards remain the property of QBD Books.

These Terms and Conditions apply in addition to any additional conditions associated with member benefits or vouchers.

The decision by QBD Books in relation to all matters relating to the QBD Books Loyalty Program including its interpretation is final and binding, unless contrary to law.

QBD Books may appoint team members of any QBD Books store to exercise any discretion conferred on QBD Books under these Terms and Conditions.

All conditions and warranties, whether express or implied and whether arising under statute or otherwise, are expressly excluded to the full extent permitted by law.

QBD Books may make changes at any time, in its absolute discretion, to these Terms and Conditions. QBD Books will endeavour to provide reasonable notice of such changes.

Where QBD Books is required to give notice under these Terms and Conditions, notice may be given by either publishing a notice on the QBD Books website located at www.qbd.com.au and/or by email to the members of the QBD Books Loyalty Program. It is the member’s responsibility to ensure that a valid email address has been supplied and to check the QBD Books website for updates to these Terms and Conditions.

QBD Books does not accept any liability for email communication to a member that is misdirected, lost or not received, or any damage to any computer related to or used in connection with the QBD Books Loyalty Program.
