Design and Make: Jewellery Using Textiles Techniques

For beginner or practising jewellers more used to working with metals than fabrics and yarns, this large-format, generously illustrated book provides a thorough introduction to all the materials and techniques you need to get started in this exciting new area of jewellery making. Techniques covered include: crochet, knitting, weaving, felting, lace and sewing. Using an accessible, step by step approach, a sequential construction process is featured for each type of material. In addition, there are showcased pieces from contemporary jewellers using the different materials.

There are more than 10 projects showing how to design and make your very own finished pieces such as a flower brooch, felt necklace, Shetland lace tiara, woven bracelet and stille collar. Each project is from a different contributor, providing stylistic variety. At the end of each project is an inspirational gallery section.
