Judith A. Jance

Judith A. JanceJudith, an American author, was introduced to the Wizard of Oz as a child by her teacher, and once hooked, knew that she wanted to be a writer. Despite being the first person from her family to attend a four year college (on a full academic scholarship), she had to battle the prejudice's of the day. She was refused entry into the creative writing program as the professor thought that 'girls ought to be teachers or nurses'. She did the next best thing, marrying a man who was in the class. This didn't end well, first with divorce, then with the still unpublished first husband dying of alcoholism at age 42.
Being a single mother of two, and full time insurance salesperson, Judith started writing again, often in the middle of the night. She had her first book, Until Proven Guilty, published in 1985. She remarried, and with the support of her new family, was able to devote more time to writing, basing many of her books and characters on events that have shaped her life.
