Inspired by the 1950s landmark exhibition 'The Family Of Man', a massive and unprecedented global photographic competition was conceived to establish a collection of 300 unique and previously unpublished images.
With a world record prize pool of $US750,000, the M.I.L.K. - Moments of Intimacy, Laughter and Kinship - competition was developed to attract the work of leading photographers who were challenged to capture and celebrate the essence of humanity.
Ultimately 17,000 photographers from 164 countries participated. Over 40,000 photographs were submitted from which 100 in each of the categories of friendship, family and lover were selected. These winning 300 images appear in this exceptionally designed and produced book.
