The Prince has been called away from the Castle and from Anya, his beautiful betrothed. In his absence Ildren the Taskmistress plots to regain her hold over the dark-haired slave; and Anya disappears into the valuts below the Castle where she is at the mercy of the Taskmistress's harsh whims.
