In the second SKINNERS book, Cole is continuing his training as a Skinner while also trying to do enough work on his laptop to remain employed as a hotshot video-game designer at Digital Dreamers. After the vampire leader Misonyk was killed in the last book, the Full Blood werewolves, who were controlled by Misonyk, are not content to hide in the wilderness, their traditional home, and start trying to end their century-long fight with the Skinners. Now that they know the vampires aren't organized enough to keep them out of the cities, the Full Bloods have launched their first major attack by purposely creating Half Breeds (part man, part werewolf) on the perimeter of Chicago. When the Half Breeds start tearing through that city, Cole and Paige are the closest ones to respond. Paige smells a trap, but by the time the normal authorities respond to the attacks they will all just be walking into a meat grinder.
Nobody said fighting monsters was easy.
