From symptoms that surge and recede, to life-altering conditions that completely floor you – this anthology seeks responses on the topic of illness. From representations in popular culture, to personal experiences, illness can be both visible and invisible, chronic and curable. Some disabilities are hidden, some must be performed for political purposes, and some have changed lives and relationships irreparably. We are looking to express the experience of illness right across the spectrum, and are keen to uncover invisible symptoms, as well as unravel the stigma of mental illness. From auto-immune diseases, to chronic pain, to consecutive bed days, it’s time to talk about what being sick really means.
