The ultimate insider's guide to the last 50 years of wrestling history, as seen through the eyes of the all-time greatest women's champion, The Fabulous Moolah.

Lillian Ellison, known in the ring as The Fabulous Moolah, is one of wrestling's oldest veterans and heroines, both in and out of the squared circle. Moolah first appeared on the scene in 1949 as a "valet" for male wrestlers. But the woman who got into the business for the "moolah" would not stay a valet for long, and Ellison soon turned her humble beginnings into a successful and long-lived career.

Moolah witnessed the early days of wrestling, and stayed in the ring throughout the 50s and 60s, when women were being banned from wrestling "for their own good". When the women's division of the National Wrestling Association was failing, she started training girls at her home base in South Carolina, and by the late 60s she and the girls she trained at "Girl Wrestling Enterprises" represented the single largest group of female wrestlers in the country.

After over half a century of wrestling, Moolah still trains girls for the ring, and even takes time out from her home on Moolah Drive to get into the ring herself. In fact, last year she appeared at the World Wrestling Federation's Royal Rumble. She is a role model for strong women both on and beyond the mat, and there is no doubt she is one of wrestling's all-time greats.
