The truth of the story behind Bravo Two Zero, the code-name given to the famous SAS operation in Iraq during the Gulf War.
'Bravo Two Zero' was a classic British story of glorious failure in the face of overwhelming odds. Written by patrol commander "Andy McNab", the book became a bestseller. So did another first-hand account of the affair, Chris Ryan's 'The One That Got Away'. But grave doubts have recently emerged about both stories.
Michael Asher went to Iraq to investigate what really happened. A fluent Arab speaker, who has himself served in the SAS, he retraced the footsteps of the patrol, from its landing in the desert to the hunt and pursuit that cost the lives of three SAS men. The story he reveals is very different from McNab's and Ryan's.
