With around 750 species, the birds of Australia are incredibly varied. They have adapted to great extremes of habitat, ranging from temperate coastal areas to tropical rainforest to arid desert. The key to their success in conquering these extremes lies in their extraordinary versatility. We may thing of birds a primarily experts at flight but many are able, in varying degrees, to run, swim, dive and climb as well!
