Basil is a big rooster whose job is to wake the farmer. Leonard is a small rooster with no self esteem. When Basil loses his voice, the hens tell Leonard it is now his job to wake the farmer, but Leonard has no confidence and runs away and hides. The hens find him and nag him, and Leonard runs further and hides again. But he's hidden in the cowshed, where the cows jostle and stamp and threaten to step on tiny Leonard. When he cries out for them to be careful, he suddeny comes out with "cock–a–doodle–do!" ... and the farmer wakes up.
