A heartfelt picture book that gently explores how members of a Hmong American family create a sense of belonging in the face of anti-Asian racism
After Nou, a young Hmong American girl, finds "Asians Go Home" spray-painted on the mailbox in front of her family's house, she tells her parents she wants to leave. They talk with her about home and about the different ways they find comfort and belonging. Nou discovers that her father's home is in the songs he performs, and her mother's home is in the garden. Nou talks with other family members, and she begins writing stories in a notebook. Little by little, she creates a place where she belongs-a home on the page.
