Tennyson is not surprised, really, when his family begins to unravel, or when his twin sister, Brontë, starts dating the biggest loser in high school. It's obviously one of her rescue missions and she can't possibly like this guy. Brewster (or The Bruiser, as the entire high school calls him) is intimidating and scary--after all, he was voted "Most Likely to Receive the Death Penalty." Tennyson is determined to get to the bottom of The Bruiser's reputation, even if it means gearing up for a fight.
Bronte, on the other hand, thinks there's something special underneath Brewster's tough exterior. In fact, she'd go pretty far to defend him. But even she becomes worried when she sees what lies beneath the surface. She knows he must have been dealt more than his fair share of blows.
As the twins start to discover that their little wounds and sprains seem to vanish when they're around The Bruiser, they're shocked to find that what seems like their own good fortune may lead to more than they bargained for... much more.
