Twelve-year-old, Hope, lives with her artist mum in a small Pyrenees town. Hope has never met her dad and her mum's boyfriends haven't stuck around for long, until Frank, who arrived three years ago with his donkey, Harry.
Frank is a traveller who rescued Harry from a building site in India. The two of them travelled across the world and made their way to the mountains and found a home. Hope and Frank have a special bond and they bring out the best in each other. But both Frank and Harry have some habits that they can't seem to change, both of them never giving up on wanting to move on. When Frank leaves and Harry gets left behind, Hope begins to question what she meant to Frank. Frank is not her dad, but he was more than just her mum's boyfriend. Except, there's no name for that kind of pair...
Missing Frank terribly, Hope and Harry have to be strong for each other and, gradually, another special pair is formed - one that makes Hope realise that some friendships become part of you and, even when someone is far away, they are always near to your heart.
