This is the kind of love story that starts with a lie.
J.P. Abrigo is pretty good at lying. He lies to just about everyone-to his aunt and uncle, to his classmates, and even to himself. Yes, I'll be home before nine. Sure, I can write in Tagalog. No, I don't miss Dad.
After losing his dad to cancer just a few months before his high school graduation, a luxury resort in the Catskills with his rich aunt and uncle and his spoiled cousins is the last place J.P. wants to be. But when he meets a girl who actually seems to like him, J.P. finds himself lying to become someone he's not, but instead someone he wishes he was.
Mia Malik doesn't back down from a dare. She'll do just about anything-swim Lake Mohonk at night, pretend to have a fatal illness, and hike a dangerous trail while tipsy-to prove it. So when a coworker dares Mia to make J.P., a guest at the resort, fall in love with her in seven days, she accepts. But soon she realizes there might be more to this boy than she expected, and more to the way she feels about him too.
As their week together runs out, Mia and J.P. will have to dig themselves out from the lies they've told to see if there's any kind of truth to the feelings they have for one another.
