The Flaming Witch was written in Java six hundred years ago and is still performed in Bali today. Rangda dances her dance of death and the holy man brings the village back to life, here in a new translation from Old Javanese by Australian writer Stephanie Owen Reeder, and illustrated by one of Indonesia's leading young artists, Dadang Christanto.
