Untitled
A complex and terrifying horror by Joe Hill, son of Stephen King. This novel has made me never see Christmas quite the same again in a intriguingly magnificent way. It follows Vicky - a troubled young girl who finds she can create a "bridge" in her mind that takes her to lost things - one day she stumbles across the bridge and lands near Mr Manx's house. A horribly ugly man who drives an old muscle car that is his own bridge of sorts - it helps him find children he can abduct and take to his very own "Christmas Land", where the children are turned into a special kind of monster and never seen again. Vicky gets away - until years later she has her own son and Mr Manx is out to get him. I really enjoyed this read, although not for the faint hearted! - Tricia (QBD)
