Frank and his wife set off on a summer voyage to Spain and France, but the weather made them change their plans and return to Essex via the Irish Sea, with the intention of leaving Iskra in Scotland. When Iskra was torn from her moorings and washed up on a rocky shore, Frank believed she was lost.
