Set in contemporary California, 'Dreaming Water' is the poignant story of Cate and her daughter Hana. Hana has Werner's Syndrome, a disease which speeds aging to twice the normal rate: at 38, Hana looks 80. Their lives are quiet and dignified as they both try to come to terms with and find meaning in Hana's sickness. When Laura, Hana's best friend from childhood, shows up unexpectedly on their doorstep with her two energetic daughters, all of their lives are changed forever.
