Just listen,' Adam says with a voice that sounds like shrapnel. I open my eyes wide now. I sit up as much as I can. And I listen.‘Stay,' he says.
Everybody has to make choices. Some might break you.For seventeen-year-old Mia, surrounded by a wonderful family, friends and a gorgeous boyfriend decisions might seem tough, but they're all about a future full of music and love, a future that's brimming with hope. But life can change in an instant. A cold February morning . . . a snowy road . . . and suddenly all of Mia's choices are gone. Except one.
As alone as she'll ever be, Mia must make the most difficult choice of all.
Gripping, heartrending and ultimately life-affirming, If I Stay will make you appreciate all that you have, all that you've lost - and all that might be.
A heartbreaking tale of love and loss follows Mia after she is injured in a car accident with her family. The only survivor has Mia having an out of body experience whilst she is in a coma as she has to decide if she is going to wake up, or join her family in the afterlife. This book made me laugh, and it made me cry harder than I thought I could. Definitely one to read before you see the movie. - Jordanna (QBD)
If I stay by Gayle Foreman
A really insightful, incredibly unique and very heartbreaking story, this is Mia's story. After a terrible car accident which killed her family, Mia is left in a coma and experiencing a kind of "out of body" experience. She is stuck watching herself and her family and must decide what will happen next.... to live with this terrible grief.... or to die.... This book explores the meaning of loss and grief. But most essentially, its about the power of love, of life and passion and family. It will leave you questioning what you would do and what is your passion? What or who is keeping you alive?

With the exception of a handful of things I loved, Gayle Forman's If I Stay didn't really tick many positive boxes for me. I really wanted to love this book, and as much as the positives were powerful ones, the negatives just far outweighed any light the positives may have shed. I can't stand passive writing and felt like the book could have used a more thorough edit. And c'mon, really, nobody has a family life that happy, I could see that Forman tried to remedy that by giving Mia's mother a strained relationship with her own family, but it just fell flat. The best part of this book was the ending. Even though it left me hanging and in desperate need to read the sequel. It is by far the most emotive part of the story and gave me a small lump in my throat and Adam's thoughtfulness in bringing the music to awaken Mia is boundlessly romantic, as are his heartfelt words. But, on the whole, Gayle Forman's If I Stay was a below average return on my emotional investment in the story.

If I Stay
If I stay is a heart breaking experience. It makes you appreciate life and everything you have. It makes you think about what you have and how fast things can change in anyone's life. No matter what you do, who you are or what you choose things can turn on you because sometimes you make choices but sometimes choices make you. Life changes in an instant and choices are taken away and Gayle has shown what dying feels like without really dying. Life is all about making choices but dying is no different. If I stay is not your average love story and plot twists aren't expected but they are heart breaking twists. I would recommend this book to anyone and I'm excited to see the movie coming out. If I Stay
This book, This book Its amazing The writing is stunning and the story is heart wrenching I cant wait to get my hands on Where She Went This book explains what I always imagined the in between would be like, it reminded me of one of my other favourites The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. Her writing is very much about stream of consciousness. Usually I don't like Stream of consciousness, Most of the time they reveal more information than what they really should. Foreman has a real way with words, She said enough without just going on and on. I also loved how it alternated between past and present. I loved how she would have a flashback of a certain character and then it would flash back to the present and where they are now. I definitely recommend this book and I will be reading the sequel and watching the movie when it comes out As reviewed by Sabrina Toohey

If you loved The Fault in Our Stars by John Green you will love this book. Gayle Forman is an author that as a meaning to her books- once you read this book the world is put in a different perspective. Mia and Adam's love story is rocky at times and truly heartwarming. If I Stay shows us how lives can be taken in an instant. That the day may start normal, but end in a terror. A book everyone will enjoy, but not a book to read in front of friends or family. Gayle Forman has written a fantastic, epic romance adventure story .
