St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school – it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them.
Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's – the very place where they're most in danger...
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable night-time rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi – the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires – make Lissa one of them forever.
The age old attage that the book is better than the movie has never been so applicable as it is here. Then again, were they really going to find a 6'7'' Russian with swoon-worthy eyes and the softest hair you can imagine? Probably not. It would take magic to make Dimitri Belikov flesh, and honestly it would be an excellent use of pixie dust. This book is so much fun but still as dramatic and thrilling as you want your fantasy to be. Unlike most, Mead doesn't struggle with her world building here, instead throwing you into Lissa and Rose's chaos. You know it's a good book when you read your sister's copy which is falling apart from overuse, then buy your own set, and then have to buy her a new set because hers are too well loved to go on. True story. Read it. Love it. Live it. But beware book three..... - Karrie (QBD)
Rose Hathaway is just an average girl, she goes to school, thinks about boys and kick evil vampire butt... sorry what?
Rose is cool, not calm and has wicked cool hair. She is also responsible for her best friends saftey which means facing off against some seriously evil vampires. Being half vampire herself that should be okay, right? - Hayley (QBD)
Rose Hathaway has one job - to protect her best friend Lissa Dragomir, who also happens to be a vampire princess. Enter Dimitri Belikov - a sexy, badass guardian who will make Rose's life a living hell, not only because of his rigourous training methods, but also because she cannot resist him. Get ready for heart-stopping romance and plenty of LOLs. VA is a must-read for lovers of romance. - Zoe (QBD)
Despite the name, this book series doesn't revolve around vampires. The main plots of the books is friendship and survival. There are a few twists and turns that will keep you up into the early hours of the morning. Nothing is predictable about this series. It is my go to recomendation. - Fiona (QBD)
Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess, a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earth's magic. Rose Hathaway is her best friend, a Dhampir, with the Moroi blood mixed with human and running through her veins it is Rose's job to keep Lissa alive as they learn how to harness magic whilst keeping themselves hidden from the human world. A must read for vampire fans. - Jordanna (QBD)
I couldn't stop at one. This is one of the most addictive series I have ever read with Rose as the ultimate strong minded, opinionated and loyal characters on paper. The book follows her as she falls in love, saves her friends countless times and learns that life isn't always black and white. This is a series you'll keep coming back to and enjoy more each time. - Darci (QBD)
While usually sceptical about this genre, I have never read an entire series so quickly and hungrily A new take on vampires that is completely enthralling. Once you have finished with this series be sure to continue on with 'Bloodlines'. P.S The book is better than the movie. reviewed by 30ti
Was not expecting to like this but after repeated suggestions by a friend I bought the first book and was amazed. The characters are interesting. The plot is interesting and what a shocker of an ending. A must buy for any vampire fan.
This Book Is Awesome
Richelle Mead weaves an interesting storyline. Amazing characters and unbelievable events. Unexpected love affairs and the best friendships. Excellent book.
Another great vampire story!
This story has an addictive plotline that sucks you right in! I decided to give this a try as it is sounded interesting and was a story about vampires and I was not disappointed. This book has a mixture of both romance and action keeping you entertained throughout the whole book. There was not one part in this story that I found boring. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good vampire thrill story.
