Aunty Lee's Chilled Revenge

Rosie "Aunty" Lee-feisty widow, amateur sleuth and proprietor of Singapore's best-loved home cooking restaurant-is back in another delectable, witty mystery set in Singapore.

Slightly hobbled by a twisted ankle, crime-solving super cook Aunty Lee begrudgingly agrees to take a rest from running the show at Aunty Lee's Delights, and sits by as her new partner Cherril and stepdaughter-in-law Selina squabble over the running of the cafe. But Aunty Lee can't watch from the sidelines for long-and soon plunges both feet into solving an intriguing murder involving animal rescuers, avenging expats, and of course, Aunty Lee's food.

At the cafe, Cherril is meeting with someone from her past as an activist with an animal rescue society. The group was forced to dissolve three years earlier when a dog adoption through the rescue society ended in scandal. Now former expat resident Allison Fitzgerald, who was painted as a puppy killer and left Singapore in disgrace, is back with an ax to grind (and a lawsuit). But when Allison and Cherril are supposed to meet, instead word arrives that Allison was afraid to leave her hotel because of anonymous threats received since returning to Singapore-and now has been found dead there.

Aunty Lee can't help but get involved, bearing comfort food for the dead woman's sister Vallerie and inviting her to stay at her Binjai Park house. Vallerie tells the police that Allison was afraid of her ex-husband Mike, now back in Singapore-and, it turns out, dating Caroline, a member of the animal rescue group that forced him and his ex-wife out.

When Caroline turns up at the cafe to ask for Aunty Lee's help in proving Mike's innocence, Aunty Lee finds that the reason Mike is back is to source food for Aunty Lee's Delights, hired by Cherril in her absence-and the matter becomes personal. Meanwhile, a veterinarian who was also involved in the scandal is found dead, and the animal activists are suspected. Before anyone else gets hurt-and to save her business-Aunty Lee must get to the bottom of what really happened three years earlier, and figure out who is to be trusted in this tangled web of scandal and lies.
