Brothers Ike and Cal Breckenridge, sons of a hardscrabble East Texas farmer, hadn't seen eye to eye in years. Ike, the elder, returned home soon after the Civil War to help his father run the family farm; Cal deserted his military post to join forces with bloodthirsty outlaw Frank Miller. Ike had almost forgotten his wayward brother until the morning he stood on the porch and saw a limping horse slowly making its way toward the house.
