In a sleepy New England town a history professor dies suddenly. So unravels a story of murder, theft and magic that stretches back a thousand years and may hold the secret of eternal life. Cub reporter Paul Tomm is asked to write the obituary for an old Estonian history professor. This apparently routine assignment proves to be anything but when Paul's investigation uncovers evidence suggesting that the professor was not exactly who he claimed to be, and that his death involved an ancient mystery relating to fifteen arcane objects, once scattered across the globe and now missing.
